Call of Duty World War 2 first gameplay trailer, release date announced
Developer Activision has provided a first look at the gameplay of its upcoming Call of Duty gaming title – World War 2. The trailer was showcased at an event held by the company in London. Besides talking about the game’s campaign mode, Activision provided information on its release date and how interested gamers can access the game before its actual release date.
As the name suggests, Call of Duty World War 2 is set during the World War 2 era of 1944-1945 across Europe.
“The game focuses on the actions of a squad from 1944 to 1945, but will also touch on events from 1940 to 1944 to help set the stage for the narrative and establish the characters,” reads the Activision blog post.
Gamers and their squads will play missions through different countries including France, Belgium and Germany. Players will also be playing through various scenarios like the French resistance movement.
“The game takes players from the beaches of Normandy to the liberation of Paris and beyond, across a variety of heart-racing engagements and epic battles,” adds the post.
The campaign mode of Call of Duty World War 2 will include two missions, among others. The ‘Hurtgen Forest’ is set in an old-growth forest on the German border, while the ‘Normandy’ mission includes the gamers’ squad storming Omaha Beach.
For now, Activision has mentioned three elements that will be coming in the multiplayer mode — War, Divisions and Headquarters. While War will be a narrative-driven mode including Axis vs. Allies team play, Divisions will include character customization and more options as the players progress through the game. Headquarters is a new social feature where gamers can interact with other team members.
